If you’re using a different motor brand, just let us know. Our engineering team can create a custom battery solution for your specific needs.
1. Is this 72V lithium battery really safe for my boat?
Absolutely. Your safety is our top priority. We use LiFePO4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) chemistry, which is the most stable and safest type of lithium battery available. It’s not prone to overheating. Plus, our built-in Smart Battery Management System (BMS) constantly protects against issues like over-charging or short circuits ⇱.
2. What makes LiFePO4 lithium marine batteries better than other lithium batteries I’ve seen?
LiFePO4 batteries are known for two things: incredible safety and a very long lifespan. Unlike some other lithium chemistries used in smaller electronics, LiFePO4 is thermally stable ⇱ and built for high-power applications like your boat, ensuring reliable and secure operation for years.
3. My boat gets hit with a lot of waves and rain. How waterproof is this battery?
Our battery has an IP67 rating. This means it’s completely sealed against dust and can be fully submerged in up to 3 feet (1 meter) of water for 30 minutes without any damage. So, yes, it’s designed to handle heavy spray, waves, and rain with no problem.
4. I do most of my boating in saltwater. Will the case rust over time?
No, it won’t. We use a 304 stainless steel case specifically for its excellent corrosion ⇱ and rust resistance. It’s built tough to withstand the harsh saltwater environment.
5. Realistically, how many years can I expect this battery to last?
You can expect a very long service life. Our batteries are rated for over 4,000 charge cycles. For the average boater, this can translate to 10+ years of reliable use, which is much longer than the 2-3 years you might get from a traditional lead-acid battery.
6. How does this battery compare to the old lead-acid one I’m replacing?
It’s a huge upgrade. Our lithium battery is significantly lighter (improving your boat’s performance), lasts 8-10 times longer, delivers consistent power without slowing down, and requires zero maintenance.
7. Do I need to worry about overcharging the battery if I leave it plugged in?
Not at all. The smart BMS inside the battery automatically stops the charge once the battery is full. It’s designed to manage charging safely and efficiently every time.
8. Will my boat’s performance drop as the battery gets low?
No. One of the best benefits of our lithium battery is that it provides a stable 72V output. You’ll get strong, consistent performance from your motor from a full charge right down until it’s nearly empty.
9. I heard lithium batteries are much lighter. How will that affect my boat?
A lighter boat means better performance. You may notice that your boat is quicker to get on plane, handles more responsively, and is more efficient, which can even help extend your range.
10. I have an ePropulsion motor. Will this battery work with it?
Yes. Our 72V battery pack is engineered to be fully compatible and work seamlessly with popular 72V motors, including those from ePropulsion, Elco Motor Yachts, Aquamot, and others.
11. What if my motor brand isn’t on your list? Can I still use this battery?
Most likely, yes. We specialize in creating custom battery solutions. Just let your boat builder or dealer know the specs of your motor, and we can engineer a battery pack that’s a perfect match for it.
12. Will this battery give my boat more range?
Yes. Our LiFePO4 batteries have a high energy density, meaning they store more power in a smaller, lighter package. This will allow you to travel farther on a single charge and spend more time enjoying the water.
13. What kind of maintenance is required for this battery?
None. It’s a completely sealed, “fit and forget” system. There’s no need to check water levels, clean terminals, or perform any of the regular upkeep required by lead-acid batteries.
14. This battery costs more upfront than a lead-acid battery. Is it worth it?
Definitely. While the initial purchase price is higher, it’s a much better long-term investment. Because it lasts up to 10 times longer, you won’t have to buy multiple replacement batteries over the years. The superior performance, lack of maintenance, and added safety make it a smarter choice that saves you money over time.
15. The battery compartment on my boat is a specific size. Can I get a battery that fits?
Yes. We support full customization for our projects. We can build a battery pack with the specific dimensions, capacity (Ah), and connector types needed to fit perfectly in your boat’s designated space.
16. I need a battery for my electric trolling motor. Is this a “deep cycle” battery?
Yes, absolutely. Our LiFePO4 batteries are the ultimate deep cycle batteries. They are designed to provide steady, reliable power for long periods, which is exactly what you need for a trolling motor battery. Unlike a starting battery that provides a quick burst of power, ours is built for endurance.
17. Can I use this 72V battery as a “starting battery” for my main gas engine as well?
This specific 72V battery pack is designed for electric propulsion, not for starting gas engines. Traditional cranking batteries are built to deliver a massive, short burst of energy (high cranking amps). While we specialize in propulsion batteries, we can also supply dedicated 12V LiFePO4 starting battery models if your project requires one.
18. I also have a 12V “fish finder” and some lights. Can I run them off this 72V battery?
You can, but not by connecting them directly. You would need a simple device called a DC-to-DC converter ⇱, which safely “steps down” the 72V to 12V for your electronics. This is a common and easy solution for powering all your boat’s accessories from a single, large battery bank.
19. What happens if the wires accidentally touch and cause a “short circuit”? Is that dangerous?
Our batteries are designed with advanced safety features to handle that exact situation. The built-in Battery Management System (BMS) will instantly detect the short circuit and cut off all power flow to prevent any damage to the battery or your boat. The system will remain off until the short is corrected.
20. I’ve seen similar lithium batteries for “golf carts.” What makes yours better for a boat? And what about “long term” storage in winter?
That’s a great question. While the core technology is similar to what’s used in golf carts, our marine batteries are built to a much higher standard. They feature an IP67 waterproof rating and a 304 stainless steel case to handle the harsh, corrosive saltwater environment—things a golf cart battery doesn’t have. For long term winter storage, simply charge the battery to about 50-70%, disconnect it, and store it in a cool, dry place. It will be ready to go next season.
21. My electric motor setup needs 144V. Can I connect two of these 72V “batteries in series”?
Yes, connecting batteries in series to achieve higher voltages is a common practice in larger electric boat projects. However, for this to be done safely and to ensure the batteries last, it must be planned from the start. We can configure the batteries and their management systems at the factory to work perfectly together in a series setup. Just let us know your project’s voltage requirements.
